„RAPID CASH FLOW“
Dimelow ist von Bony Fly gegründet worden, einem DJ und Produzent aus Genf. 2011 eröffnete er sein erstes Studio, um Bands, Musiker und Sänger aufzunehmen und eigene Projekte zu realisieren. 2016 begann er, seine eigene Veranstaltung namens Dancehall Fusion zu promoten und zu kuratieren. Diese Partys zielen darauf ab, Dancehall auf alternative Weise zu präsentieren: vermischt mit anderen urbanen Musikgenres, die auf Soundsystemkultur basieren. Bony Fly vertritt außerdem Reggae, Dancehall und Latinx-Musik in seiner regelmäßigen Sendung bei Red Light Radio.
Der in New York lebende, in Trinidad und Tobago geborene Künstler Lenky Don eröffnet das neue Amsterdamer Plattenlabel Dimelow mit einem Hit namens „Rapid Cash Flow“. Das Label gibt Dancehall- und Latinx-Künstlern Raum, erfinderisch zu sein und fokussiert sich auf zeitgenössische Bassmusik.
Lenky Don ist seit Ende der 80er Jahre in New York, wo er sich mit seinem „Maschinengewehr-Flow“ einen Namen gemacht hat. Der gemeinsam kreierte Sound basiert auf Lenky Dons grobem Dancehall-Stil sowie Bony Flys Leidenschaft für das Genre.
Lenky Don und Bony Fly trafen sich im Juli 2018 in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. In Lenkys Wohnung entwickelten sie den Track „Rapid Cash Flow“, eine Ode an Lenkys bisherige Karriere. Der Track wurde in 15 Minuten aufgenommen – wenn die Formel passt, dann passt sie. Der Dancehall-Flow der späten 90er Jahre in Kombination mit dem dynamischen Reggaeton-Beat funktioniert. Auf Bandcamp findet man außerdem eine von Bony Fly gedubbte Version des Tracks.
Bony Flys komplettes Debütalbum XPRNC wird Mitte November veröffentlicht. Zu zukünftigen Veröffentlichungen auf Dimelow zählen Projekte mit Künstlern aus Kolumbien, Jamaika, Großbritannien und den USA.
Dimelow is founded by Bony Fly, a DJ and producer from Geneva, Switzerland. He started out in 2011, when he set up a studio to record bands, musicians and vocalists to create his own projects. He started to promote and curate his own event called Dancehall Fusion in 2016. These parties aim to introduce dancehall in a more alternative way, by blending it with other urban music genres based on soundsystem culture. Bony Fly also represents reggae, dancehall and latinx music in his regular radio show on Red Light Radio.
New York based, Trinidad and Tobago born artist Lenky Don kicks off new Amsterdam based record label Dimelow with hot single „Rapid Cash Flow“. The label gives space to Dancehall and Latinx music artists to be inventive and focuses on contemporary bass music.
Lenky has been in New York since the late 80s, and is famous for having a “machine-gun flow”. The sound they’ve created draws on Lenky Don’s rough-and-ready dancehall style, as well as Bony Fly’s passion for the genre and production talents.
Lenky Don and Bony Fly linked up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn in July 2018. They chilled together in Lenky’s apartment, freestyling while Bony Fly played his beats and Lenky improvised over them. Eventually, they came up with the track “Rapid Cash Flow”, an ode to Lenky Don’s career so far and the image he has created through his many ventures and collaborations. The track was recorded in 15 minutes – when you’ve found the formula don´t change it. The late 90s dancehall flow combined with the dynamic reggaeton beat works. A riddim version dubbed by Bony Fly can be found on Bandcamp exclusively.
Bony Fly’s full debut album called XPRNC will be released mid november. Future releases on Dimelow include projects with artists from Colombia, Jamaica, UK and USA.
The tune is officially released this friday.
